Mantan pemain kriket PAK Rashid Latif telah meminta ICC untuk mencabut hak tuan rumah India dan Pakistan di tengah kebuntuan mengenai ICC Champions Trophy.
Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif fumed over India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy and came up with a rather bizarre suggestion for ICC. The schedule for the marquee event, scheduled to begin in February 2025, has not been released yet owing to the deadlock between BCCI and PCB. India last traveled to Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup following which geopolitical tensions led to the former boycotting travel to the latter nation for any series or events.
Latif wants ICC to strip India, Pakistan of rights amid Champions Trophy row
In an interview with a television channel, Latif advised ICC to strip away hosting rights from India and Pakistan until they resolved the issues between the countries. He said that one should follow the rule as per the legal document provided by the ICC and claimed that one should not treat bilateral series or ACC tournaments like Champions Trophy.
“My suggestion is that ICC should take away the hosting rights of all global events from India and Pakistan for the cycle of 2024-2031. ICC should tell these boards to first resolve all the issues and then we will give you the hosting rights,” Rashid Latif said in an interview.

It is understood that the Indian government has denied permission to the team. While Pakistan has remained adamant over retaining the complete hosting right, the matter seems to be slipping out of their hands. Reports have claimed that the ICC could be mulling India or South Africa as the hosts if Pakistan do not consider the hybrid model.
Dragging India to court for refusing to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025 was one of the threats issued by Pakistan. The other threats include withdrawing from the tournament if a hybrid model is adopted, boycotting future ICC events where India will be participating in and writing a letter to the ICC seeking clarity on why India refused to travel to Pakistan.
