The tournament, taking place from November 14 to 24 at the Shenzhen Arena in China. The tournament has a prize pool of USD 1,150,000, which is approximately Rs 9.66 crore. This tournament will see Satwik and Chirag’s first appearance since their quarterfinal exit at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The pair has been preparing for over a month to comeback into action following their Olympic disappointment and minor injury setbacks. With two BWF titles already under their belt this year, they aim to win their third title, making a memorable return and the beginning of the LA Olympics campaign with a win.

Coachless but determined

A big challenge is looming for Satwik and Chirag as they don’t have any coach with them currently. The duo parted ways with their Danish coach Mathias Boe in July after the Paris Olympics and have since been training independently. While the Badminton Association of India (BAI) recently appointed Kim Tan Her as the national doubles coach, it remains unclear when he will take charge of the team.

According to reports, recently BAI’s shift from personal coaching to group training under national coaches adds to the uncertainty. For now, Satwik and Chirag will have to play the tournament without on-court assistance, a situation that could prove to be hard and challenging for the duo, especially against the world’s best players.

Redemption on their minds after the final exit in 2023

At the 2023 China Masters, Satwik and Chirag narrowly missed out on the title, losing to world number one Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in the final. This year, the duo is eyeing redemption but faces a tough challenge, particularly without a coach’s guidance during matches.
