Mallika Sagar sebelumnya juga pernah melelang Liga Super Wanita dan Liga Pro Kabaddi.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, which is set to take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, will once again include Mallika Sagar as the auctioneer. This is a historic move as she became the first-ever female auctioneer to conduct an IPL auction. Now, she becomes the first female to do it for two consecutive seasons.
IPL 2025 Auction: Who is Mallika Sagar?
With an impressive tenure spanning over two decades, Mallika Sagar has established herself as a seasoned auctioneer, having successfully conducted auctions for various high-profile events, including the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). Her expertise is just sports, having worked with renowned art galleries and consulting firms, such as Pundoles and Art India Consultants.
Mallika Sagar’s appointment shows that the BCCI is wooing away the traditional male-dominated auctioneer landscape. Previous IPL auctions have been conducted by notable auctioneers such as Richard Madley, Hugh Edmeades, and Charu Sharma. Sagar’s career began at Christie’s, where she made history as the first female auctioneer of Indian origin. In 2000, she conducted the inaugural sale of Modern Indian Art in New York, that almost announced her arrival in the auction world.
