Kiwi menyerang! Kane Williamson melewatkan Tes kedua India melawan Selandia Baru

Meskipun ketersediaan Kane Williamson untuk Tes ketiga masih belum pasti, tim tetap berharap mantan kapten mereka akan pulih tepat waktu.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the upcoming second Test against India as he continues to recover from a groin strain. His absence is a blow for the Blackcaps, who head into the match in Pune with a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series, following their dominant 8-wicket victory in the first Test in Bengaluru.

Ongoing rehabilitation in New Zealand

Kane Williamson, who sustained the injury during the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, is currently undergoing rehabilitation back in New Zealand. The Blackcaps are closely monitoring his progress as he works towards full recovery.

Head coach Gary Stead expressed cautious optimism about Williamson’s recovery but confirmed that the star batter isn’t yet fit enough to return to the Test arena.

“We’re monitoring Kane and he’s tracking in the right direction, but isn’t yet 100% fit,” Stead said. “We’re hopeful to see further improvement over the coming days and have him available for the third Test.”

Cautious approach to Kane Williamson return

New Zealand’s management is determined to take a careful approach with their captain’s injury, ensuring he is fully ready before making a return. Stead added, “We’ll give him as much time as possible to get himself ready, but certainly continue to take a cautious approach.”

With Kane Williamson’s leadership and batting prowess, his absence is significant. However, the Blackcaps will be confident in their squad depth, hoping to capitalise on their momentum and secure the series in Pune, starting Thursday.

Focus on India vs New Zealand Third Test for Kane

While Kane Williamson’s availability for the third Test remains uncertain, the team remains hopeful that their ex-skipper will make a timely recovery for the series finale. For now, the Blackcaps will look to maintain their form without their talisman as they aim to seal the series win in India.

New Zealand’s next challenge begins in Pune, where the second Test against India kicks off.
