Bagaimana peluang India untuk mencapai semifinal Piala Dunia T20 Wanita ICC?

Skenario Kualifikasi: Bagaimana tim kriket putri India bisa mencapai semifinal Piala Dunia T20 Wanita ICC?

The India Women’s Cricket Team registered a sensational 82-run win over Sri Lanka in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. With 4 points from 3 games, the Women in Blue have now reached the second spot in the Points Table. With one game remaining against Australia, India needs a strong win to enhance their chances of making it to the semi-finals of the tournament. But with Pakistan and New Zealand having a game extra on their hand, the qualifying scenario becomes a bit difficult.

Pakistan and New Zealand are placed 3rd and 4th respectively after India’s mega win over Sri Lanka. India’s massive win has also significantly increased their NRR as well. India now has an NRR of +0.576 which is greater than that of Pakistan and the White Ferns as well.

If India beats Australia

If India goes on to beat the former World Champions on 13th October, India will have 6 points to their name. Furthermore, if New Zealand wins against Pakistan and Australia too wins against Pakistan, then India, Australia, and the Kiwis will be level on points, i.e. 6 points each.

In such a scenario, the NRR will be used to determine the position in the standings and only the top 2 teams will make it to the semi-finals. Thus it is imperative that India register a big win against the Aussies to reach the semis of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

If Pakistan wins 2 matches

Pakistan too has a chance of making it to the next stage as well. If the Women in Green manages to extract wins against Australia and New Zealand and India goes on to beat Australia, then both the rival nations will reach the semi-finals from Group A. Currently, Pakistan sits in the third spot after their loss against India. A dual loss from India and Pakistan will ultimately knock Australia out of the tournament.

If Australia goes undefeated

Another qualifying scenario can take place if Australia wins both their remaining matches. In such a case, Australia will be table toppers with 8 points. A win for the Kiwis over Sri Lanka will see India and the White Ferns finishing on equal points, i.e. 4 points.

In such a case, a strong NRR will help either India or New Zealand to qualify for the next round. As things stand, India currently has a greater NRR than New Zealand.
