Shortly after reports suggested that the ex-Australian pacer was replaced by the former Pakistan star, the PCB took to social media to offer a clarification. Gillespie was named the stand-in coach following Gary Kirsten’s resignation as the white-ball coach earlier.

Reports had claimed that Aaqib Javed – who was appointed as Pakistan’s selection committee head in September, is most likely to succeed Jason Gillespie as the head coach across all formats of the game. The report had claimed that Gillespie’s replacement is expected to be announced on Monday, just on the day when Australia are taking on Pakistan in the 3rd T20I. Mohammed Rizwan and co. are already on the backfoot, given that they are already 2-0 down in the series.
