Asosiasi Kriket Benggala akan mengganti nama Gedung B di Eden Gardens untuk menghormati pemain legendaris Jhulan Goswami, menandai penghormatan bersejarahnya di stadion ikonik tersebut.
In a historic move, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has announced that the Block B gallery of Eden Gardens, Kolkata, will be renamed in honour of legendary women’s cricketer Jhulan Goswami. This will mark Jhulan as the third individual to have a stand named after her at this iconic venue, joining cricket greats Jagmohan Dalmiya and legendary Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.
Inauguration in January
The stand, situated near the dressing room and clubhouse, will be inaugurated during the India-England T20 match on January 22. It will also be redesigned to showcase Jhulan’s illustrious career and inspire future generations. Known as the “Chakdah Express,” Jhulan’s journey from a small town in West Bengal’s Nadia district to becoming a cricketing icon has motivated countless fans and young athletes.
Speaking about the tribute, a CAB official stated, “Jhulan is a legend, and it was only fitting that a stand be named in her honour. Now that permission has been obtained, the inauguration will take place on the day of the India-England match.”

Jhulan Goswami’s efforts are being recognised
The decision to honour Jhulan was initiated in 2022 but faced delays due to clearance requirements from the Defence Ministry, as the Eden Gardens land belongs to them. With approval granted earlier this week, the CAB’s plans have now come to completion.
This dedication underscores Jhulan’s immense contributions to Indian cricket, both on and off the field. In her two-decade-long international career, she took 355 wickets across all formats, retiring in 2022 as one of the most celebrated players in women’s cricket.
Legacy beyond the field
Apart from her on-field heroics, Jhulan has served as a mentor bowling coach of the Mumbai Indian in the WPL, further shaping the future of Indian cricket. Also, he has mentored Trinbago Knight Riders in women’s CPL in the Caribbean.
Her achievements continue to promote the importance of women’s cricket in India. With her name now enshrined at Eden Gardens, Jhulan Goswami’s legacy will remain a permanent part of Indian cricket’s history.
