Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) can be en route to suffer a massive blow to their IPL retention rules. After Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, KKR can become the third Indian Premier League (IPL) side to face this massive blow. Since Hrashit Rana is tipped to make his debut for his National Team in the IND vs BAN 2nd T20I, he won’t be considered as an uncapped bowler.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction teams are slated to submit their retention list. And after Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mayank Yadav’s debut, KKR will suffer a strong blow. With these players making their national team debuts before the auction, they would not be deemed as uncapped players and thus can’t be retained for a low price of Rs. 4 crore.

Uncapped Indian players will be retained at a price of Rs. 4 Crore. Now this will be a big blow to KKR, as Harshit Rana will cease to be an uncapped player. This has also been the case with Mayank Yadav for LSG and Nitish Kumar Reddy for SRH.

Will Harshit Rana make his debut in Delhi?

The only player who is yet to get his chance to don the national colors is Harshit Rana. And it can well become a special occasion for the young speedster who can get his debut on his home city’s soil. Fellow pacer Mayank Yadav made his debut in the previous game and proved to be extremely economical with the ball.

Harshit Rana is likely to follow suit, given he has been in good form over the last year. The young pacer lifted the IPL trophy with KKR last season and then has played domestic cricket well.

Harshit can get his chance in the India Playing XI should Gautam Gambhir consider resting Nitish Kumar Reddy. Coming to the IPL Auction, as per the retention rules, a team can retain a maximum of 5 capped players and a maximum of 2 uncapped players.
